Hello

My wife is Portuguese and her ID and Passport are due to run out and trying to get an appointment at the Portuguese embassy is a nightmare, it's taken weeks of logging on everyday checking for availability and still nothing, it would be easier but a lot more expensive for her to fly back to Portugal stay in a hotel and do it there but again it's expensive.

I'm British by birth, have a British passport.. my wife has lived here over 20 years always worked we have two kids both with British passports, so finally my question is can she apply for a British passport? And if so how?

Thanks

Ops put this questions under the JOKES category for some reason...
Maybe ask Ed to move it ?

I've little knowledge about passports but wonder if one needs to become a British citizen in order to hold a British passport. It sounds logical to me, but maybe there are different rules for spouses.
Oh I see it is already in law/civil.
