One Week On ........ Dental Implants ......

Just a quick follow up on my progress from having implants inserted into my jawbone last Thursday:

.... well today I finally got my denture back (I've had to endure a whole week with 2 teeth missing). My biggest fear was being told beforehand that the dentist would have to trim the denture down, as he didn't want it impacting on my gums. Well thankfully, it looks okay and it's not a bad fit ..... so at last I can now leave the house, without having to cover my mouth up :)

Here's a piccie of the swelling, the day after the implants were inserted:

Thankfully, the swelling has virtually gone now.

I've only had the titanium implants inserted so far - no new shiny teeth to show off yet. I've got to wait approx 6 months before they "load" them, as they have to allow time for the implants to fully integrate with my jawbone, so I've got to put up with this denture for another 6 months or so yet :(

Strangely enough jno - I felt no pain whatsoever from my gums, even though they'd literally been peeled back like a banana skin and implants drilled into my jawbone.
The main problem was the swelling and I wouldn't really call it pain - it was more discomfort. For the first few days I couldn't talk much and if I laughed or smiled, then that caused a bit of pain and discomfort as it was stretching the swollen area.
To be honest, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was gong to be.
