Mr Smow generally leaves house by 7 - 7.30 am and is home by 6.30 -7pm. He then often does a couple of hours in his office at home. So he works long hours. I have the luxury of working from home - I have a part time job which involves working on laptop and also my proofreading which at the mo is also all online. But because I'm at home and can do the work when I like, I also do all the shopping, cooking, washing, ironing, gardening, decorating, car washing, absolutely everything apart from DIY i.e. If a shelf needed putting up. (Although I could do it ). Are you all similar??P.S if I actually asked him to do anything he would.
My hubby does sweet fanny adams around the house!!
I leave at 615 (earlier if I go swimming) he does not get up till 750 but I have the machine on the lunches made and a general tidy up all before I go!
I am home at 1600 so I hoover, mop and cook before he comes home, then I serve him his dinner and wash up!!
At weekends he will garden whilst i clean inside but that is the extent of his 'helping'!
I've tried sharing the chores with the other four occupants of my house but they simply miaow their disapproval at the idea. The only exception I can think of is that Chequers washes all of my dishes for me (with his tongue!)
Mr Alba can leave between 6 - 7 am, gets home whenever o'clock.
I daren't paint anything tho, am hopeless at it, and for a spot of window-cleaning, well, there's the young albas :-D
we had a felix look-alike and a feather duster which was also similar in colour.
Tootsie was not impressed lol, the number of times she tried to kill it never seemed to work :-D
Like you though I'm at home most of the time so there's not anything for him to do except clean the bath after himself, which he does.
He will cook for himself at weekends. I don't eat in the mornings in general so he'd never expect me to make him food unless I was eating.
tbh...he doesn't really expect much. The only thing he wants is dinner. He couldn't give two hoots if the beds were made or the floors are mopped...just dinner.
It depends. We both are fortunate to get very well-paid overtime and at present I am the one in receipt of all the overtime and so he stays at home and does everything, including the ironing. He's actually very domesticated as he lived on his own for several years before we got together.
I still do 99% of the cooking but he'll clean and tidy up around me.
When I'm doing overtime at weekends I'll text him when I'm leaving work and he'll run me a bath.
Smow - could I ask how you got involved in proofreading as that was part of my job and also many "homers" I done.
Wouldn't mind trying this to pass a bit of time for me. Thanks for any advice.
Recall an American 20 year old staying here for a week. "Jenny jenny where is your dishwasher - I don't believe you don't have one. My reply - you are looking at it. (me) LOL
I do all the cooking, and am happy doing so. I have my TV lappie and Music available in the kitchen, plus my "drinks" store. I also peg out the washing, run the hoover round and always iron my own shirts and chinos. Having said that "She who must be obeyed" is still working full time, I even make a sandwich or salad box some mornings before she gets out. I lived the life of a very carefree bachelor for 10 years in my 20s and looked after myself easily. I was raised to do it being the eldest of 13 children. I also do the weekly shopping most times unless "She" is off work, this includes the Christmas scramble. No Problem. The garden is her domain except the veg, I am logistics and heavy labour only.
