does anyone know if you can request a copy of the coroners report, is it public record or do you have to be next of kin?

I am assuming next of kin or exec.

not public..only to those legally entitled to have sight or surviving spouse..next of kin
English law may differ from Scottish law ?
Question Author
no - that's about reporting types of deaths and i think the site gets restricted as you go further in.

I'm looking for something i can point to, that def states. I can find lots of statements online to support what i think but nothing definitive

i've been googling for ages - thank you though for looking

thanks jno

I'm not ringing the police... they might remember that they want me.... :-D
Or you could wait 75 years fluff ??
Question Author
i'd be bored to death by then :)
Yes...you can ask for a copy of the Coroner's report....for a fee.
The other way is to ask your GP or the deceased GP if he will ask for a copy and that should be no problem.
Is there something specific you want to see other than the cause of death?
Question Author
so i could, in theory, ask for anyones?
This is what I am trying to determine, do you have to be next of kin or an exec of the estate before one will be released to you (paid for or not) or can a person not connected to the deceased ask for a copy?
Question Author
this in the link jno put up suggests only next of kin

"All coroner inquest records are closed to the public for 75 years, although next of kin can apply for access. "
Cluffy.........yes...you could ask, but it would be up to the authorities as to whether they would allow it and if you had good reason....then YES.
Same with your GP.
You haven't answered the question.........what are you interested in?
