The defendant caused serious damage onto the victim and it has resulted in section 18 assault OAPA 1861. If the defendant pleads guilty does it reduce his sentence. If so by how much? Thank you!

Yes, a guilty plea at the first opportunity gives an automatic 1/3rd reduction in the sentence. S18 is ALWAYS a jail term though so a guilty plea gives 1/3rd off the time in jail.

Sentence guidelines here
The minimum sentence for S18 is 3 years the maximum is life.
The sentence will be announced and the reduction for the guilty plea will be taken off later , so 3 year sentence means 2 years served.
