What Will I Get In Court.

My ex has accused me of assault she claims I punched her in the chest and strangled her till she could not breath. I have to go to trial for this despite there being no marks at all around her neck. All she had was a small bruise where I pushed her away as she actually attacked me causing bruises right along my chest. I made a counter allegation but Kent police just took her word for it. What she never told police the day before the alleged assault she verbally attacked me via text message. My solicitor is confident of a not guilty but I'm worried what I would get if found guilty I've never been arrested for a violence before.

The maximum possible for common assault is 6 months in jail. But that is ONLY the most serious cases. This is low level offence. I can not see a sentence more than at maximum a low community service order, more likely a conditional discharge. Pleading guilty means an automatic 1/3rd reduction in any sentence. ( not that I am saying you should plead guilty)
