Homeserve A Tale Of Woe
My wife owns a property 125 miles away occupied by her daughter and 5 year old granddaughter.
The boiler was replaced approximately 4 years ago. Homeserve were paid to service it and keep it going. Their "engineers" came to investigate why the boiler kept turning off on more than 10 occasions without success. So in frustration my wife cancelled the direct debits to Homeserve and instructed British Gas to replace the boiler again. Cost- £3100. The new boiler did exactly the same thing and turned itself off. British Gas identified the problem as leaks in the heating circuit and the boiler was turning off as a safety measure. They had to take the floorboards up to locate the worst of the leaks.
So in a nutshell Homeserve's "engineers" collective incompetence has cost my wife dearly.
Do we have any legal recourse to at least recoup some of the expenditure?
Are Homeserve in breach of contract?
There were other incidental costs which mounted up to a considerable sum. Things such as loss of earnings because of having to take time off. Any thoughts please?

As a footnote as a goodwill gesture they put £100 in my wife's account. Which I think is an insult.
