Mobile Phone E-Mail Issue
3 Answers
As usual I'm probably posting too soon and an obvious solution will occur to me on hitting the "ASK" button, but ...
My woman's Samsung mobile seems to have had "a fit" recently and just about every app has been needing setting up as if it were new. No idea why. Frustrating enough, but the e-mail is proving worse than the others.
On the PC she uses IMAP for incoming and SMTP for outgoing. Seems to work with the Plusnet e-mail server (I recall the fuss some time back when we needed to change from POP3 to IMAP because the Plusnet server end had changed. Needed a new account on the client, and the directory tree there has never been the same or simple again.)
The mobile app seems to offer only IMAP or POP3 with no mention of SMTP; so I'm assuming that's the issue. It starts checking the connection but soon puts up a standard failed message.
(There is the additional problem of not keeping her passwords filed/kept where they can be found, so we think we're using the right one, but ...)
I was going to try a different app but can't install one as it claims the few apps she has has used up the memory space. My mobile has far less space and it copes fine ! I have a memory card on order which should have arrived before the bank holiday >:-( but hasn't. Not that I trust it'll free much space given the garbage experience I had when I put one in my mobile and it refused to move apps to it (flaming con job).
Anyone have potential fixes or possible insights ? TIA

It wasn't useless when she paid good money for the phone a year ago. And I have fewer issues with my earlier model 4G phone ! It seems it's not just the memory card that's a con with next to nothing being able to be moved over, but the phones are too ! Ok for a year or less, then pay up £hundreds more for new. Maybe I'll try to root it and find a way to get stuff on to the card at some point. Meanwhile we have returned to the point where nothing can be updated because a MASSIVE 8G still isn't enough memory !
