My solicitor told me some while ago that the person who knocked me down is from the south of Ireland and so car is registered with a southern registration.

She told me now that MIB are now involved. To be honest on the day I called in I didn't know what she meant.

On reading the reports from her the other day I am now taking it that if my claim is successful MIB will pay out rather than the person's southern insurers.

Would I be correct. Thanks

I’m assuming the The I and B stand for Insurance Brokers. But the M ?
Ah, ta. Then, yes, if they’re involved any pay out would come from them.

ok - you know Solicitor talks to you as if you (lay person) know what she is talking about.

Would you know Zacs how long it would take them to pay out.

Solicitor is confident that I will get a claim.
Well, the website states (under ‘making a claim on an untraced driver’ which I’m assuming your so,icitor is doing)
We will make every effort to decide on whether to make a compensation payment within three months.
Took about 2 years for me to get my payment (probably over that) I too was knocked over along with my 4 year old son so they were dealing with two claims. Have you seen an independent doctor?
Under claims against an uninsured driver it says:
We will make every effort to decide on whether to make a compensation payment within three months. For cases submitted under the Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents, we will aim to make a decision within six weeks.
Question Author
ok - thanks for that - just wanted to say - the claim was with another solicitor and when I enquired about the claim a year later - I was told said solicitor had left the practice - hence quite a long time ie a year and half.
Question Author
forgot about the doctor - that's right - solicitor mentioned that - so that hasn't happened - so longer then.
I’m not sure how the solicitor can be so confident without a medical report.
Question Author
that's why I'll not be satisfied until the medical report is in.
I had a medical report from the hospital, one from my doctor and one from an independent doctor.

Did you go to the hospital after the accident?
Question Author
Yes I was taken away by ambulance - Solicitor did have the medical report from hospital but did say about the independent doctor.
I was sent to an independent doctor quite quickly.

Besides the hospital reports have you seen your doctor on a regular basis?
And no offence but had you been drinking?
Question Author
You're cheeky Ummmm
It makes a difference to a claim.

I'm not being cheeky, by your own admission you used to drink, but had you been drinking at the time of the accident?
MIB are the motor insurers bureau. They pay if the other driver has no insurance.
Question Author
Not that it's any of your business Ummmm - no it was midday of a Saturday and I was going for a bus to go into city centre.
Just asking.
