My brother has a 'registered charge' on my mothers house. She has asked me to examine what this charge is. Is there any way for me to do this, the Title Deeds do not specify what the charge is.. In truth I don't really won't to be involved but she is becoming increasingly anxious about this - that I am concerned re her health.
Any advice would be very welcome. If I go to a solicitor could they help? I have a copy of the Title Deeds.
Thank you

Can't you ask him?
it means there is a debt owed for which the property was used as security..best ask him what it's all about.. does she not remember ?
presumably there is some reason she hasn't already asked him.
Ignore Murrays search link and use THIS link only, murtays will lead you to private firms who will charge you for services, sorry murray. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/land-registry
my link is only to advise of the nature of a registered charge..not to delve further... mother must be aware of any debts accrued unless there is a condition that is affecting memory..
I think you are going to have to ask him. The charge on the register will not give you the detail. The purpose of the entry on the register is to protect the charge owner and notify potential purchasers.

Are you able to tell us how you know that there is 'registered charge' on your mothers house. ?

Why are both you and mother unable to ask your brother. ?

Further information would be helpful if Legal folk such as Barmaid are able to be of further help to you.

Hans.
thx barmaid....
