Why Do Celebrities Bother Fighting Driving Points?

Mr Loophole has yet again got a rich and famous celeb off a speeding fine and or points on a technicality.

David Beckham is rich enough and self sufficient enough to not have to worry about a ‘piffling’ speeding conviction.

It’s not like he drives for a living and he will get the sack if he gets a conviction.

Surely the cost of Mr Loophole and the publicity is more than any speeding conviction would ever generate?

Well, it arrived late therefore he can't be prosecuted and you pay the sort of money Nick Freeman charges so you don't have to worry about things like that.
This sort of publicity won't harm him, it's just a thing that will be forgotten, so he gets to keep his licence and pay nick Freeman handsomely for doing that for him.

He has paid handsomely for something he could have paid out of the change down the sofa.

For what? A clean license? He still sped and could have killed someone.

Yeah he could have killed someone but people who speed don't care about that whilst they're doing it or indeed afterwards when they are called out on it, so he paid for that not to happen to him, one of the perks of being rich. Doesn't make it right but that's certainly why it happened.

See the 'anti Beckham Brigade' are alive and kicking. The thread asked why 'celebrities bother fighting driving points' and appears to have descended into something entirely different. Yes, i know the link is to the Beckham case, but scrolling down, i see a short list of some of Freeman's clients, including Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Colin Montgomerie, Sir Alex Ferguson and Paddy McGuinness. Yet i don't see anyone on here having a pop at any of them. Strange. Not. By the way, the answer to the question asked is probably, because they can.

People ( awake high IQ ABers - not many of the them I can tell you!) have noticed that Freeman charges much more than the fine - - - and so why pay /

there must be Something Else - either the honour or for the rest of us, the consequences of having been convicted

Professional associations is one - (can Judges have a drink driving conviction or do they have to go and miss out on that super max pension?) - the doctors regulator may show and interest in these things if it shows a willingness to take a risk

so those are two

the uplift in the insurance may be enought ot make it worthwhile to hire Freeman. whom I like - we all have to obey the law and that includes the prosecutors ....

since we are discussing law is ; classic third party pleading

( you shouldnt convict me as as I was at the end of a load of speeders and you didnt do diddly squat to them)

PP; I never said don't criticise Beckham. Do so to your heart's content if that's what floats your boat. But by doing so, the thread morphs into a 'Why does David Beckham bother to fight driving points?' Which, of course, may be just what cassa333 intended.
