Is My Employer Trying To Trick Me
5 Answers
Today I had a run in with my production manager who also is the health and safety chairman.
The job I do is very repretitive and this ive been doing now for 6 yrs and 12 hrs day .
I’ve been getting pains in my shoulder from the action I do so I asked my first aider to put it in the book just in case I get issues in the future.
Hour later my manager approached me and told me he was going to send me home under care of duty I new this was all bull as another worker has an hernia and can’t lift but hasn’t been sent home .
After a while he changed his tune by saying if I wrote a letter to him saying I’m happy to carry on doing my job with a bad shoulder if he rotated staff .
I’m not happy about this as it sounds like I’m giving up any claim in the future if my shoulder gets worse what do you people think

He said you could go home but you thought this was bull; he then said you could stay provided you confirmed you were happy to work and again you are unhappy. What would you have wanted your boss to have done?
I agree you should get the problem diagnosed by a doctor. You could then use this to discuss possible changes to your working arrangements/duties or to consider a claim for industrial injury.
