Made To Measure Curtains Not Long Enough!
Went into a shop and ordered some curtains. I wanted one of the sizes shown on the list and was told they’d have to order them in. All fine.
Picked them up yesterday and after measuring them, found out they’re 1 to 2 inches short and this makes all the difference.
Phoned the shop and asked for a refund to be told they don’t do them! I said these weren’t fit for purpose as they weren’t the size I ordered. Still they said no.
He just kept saying bring them in. I said yes, you’ll measure them, see they’re not the specified length and then what? Will I get a refund then? He kept replying just bring them in.
What are my rights? They’ve got it wrong and I don’t particularly trust them now hence wanting a refund. I don’t know if they were made to measure as such as it was actually a standard size off the list shown, they just needed to order them in.
I wasn’t told at the outset that no refunds were permitted and didn’t see any signs saying that either.
Oh and they cost £130 which is why I’m so up in arms about this ...

IM inexpert O it is up to the supplier to be clear about what needs measuring, If a person not in the trade specifies a specific length then the curtain itself should be expected to be that length.
If it is an opening measurement that's needed, that is trade knowledge that a customer can't be expected to know. (But since a supplier can not know how low the rail has been put, it seems unlikely to me that an opening height would be required.)
Really need a consumer law expert to give an opinion. I'm unsure which of us are in that position.
