How are the assets of each party determined? No mortgage, children, etc. school fees, debts. Should any disposable assets be spent beforehand, ie house repairs. Any other advice would be gratefully received.

the golden rules are- try to agree
if it is unwanted then you are likely to the the affronted party.
Disagree - and it is likely that a judge will say sell the asset and divide it in half

try not to quarrel over the dog - your soft toys that you had when you were 10.

//Should any disposable assets be spent beforehand, ie house repairs. //

no - - - - disposable assets should be totted up and diveed. Repairs are NOT disposable assets but expenses and should be carried out
bearing in mind that the judges do not rule/agree that repairs are new extensions, or improvements
