Daft question. (Well, we are in CB)
I’ve had workmen in my house for some days and there will be a few more for a while. They seem to love their tea. I don’t drink it myself so am not in the habit of just putting the kettle on throughout the day. How often is enough to keep them happy but not seem like a maid or waitress pandering to them?

Not a daft question, jo. I think as they're going to be in the house for some time I would make sure there's plenty of teabags, milk and sugar, buy some inexpensive biscuits, tell them to help themselves - then stand well clear.
I'm sure they'll appreciate it, and also that they won't feel you're 'hovering' and watching what they're doing all the time.
I`d offer them a cup of tea when they first come in and then maybe one mid morning and one mid afternoon.
I'd offer every 2 hours, if it was convenient for me.
A cup when they arrive in morning, depends on how you are employing them, if the are on day rate then never, if they are working to quote, then offer them a cuppa at lunchtime. They really should be providing their own refreshments otherwise you will be doing bacon sarnies as well. lol

Thanks for the answers. They bring their own lunches.
About every two hours felt right to me, but when I gave it to them then they seemed ‘too’ ready and that I’d been depriving them.
Daft isn’t it?
I'd make them one on arrival, one at elevensies, one at lunch and one in the afternoon and tell them to yell if they fancy another.
other option is to give a shout out every couple of hours "anyone want a cuppa" providing they work while drinking tea then they will be happy and you.

barmaid and Tony. That feels right to me. They do carry on working.
My husband keeps nudging me saying ‘Do the lads need more more tea?’, but he won’t make it himself.
Must be a woman’s job. sigh....
Clover just keep in the back of your mind they are working for you not you for them but keep them happy within reason. Barmaids suggestion is a good one.
I remember when the carpet men turned up to put the carpets down in my house (20 years ago) When I opened to door to them, the first thing one of them said was "Two cups of tea with sugar Love" I should have told them to *** off.

I agree. Thanks all.
Clover providing you are providing builders tea and not offering earl grey then no problem. lol

LOL! No, I don’t think they’d appreciate that. Or maybe they would, but I won’t ask them.
One of them has a taste for Nespresso coffee.
237sj totally out of order, but that was 20 years ago.
About the same time I had to cut a granite worktop for a guy in Sloan Square in London. Dont know who he was but could afford ex Gurkas as doormen.
Anyway he wanted this granite cut for new cooker arriving next morning so marked it out to his dimensions, i said i would allow 3mm each side of appliance, he said no so cut to these dimensions. We did did needless to say back next day to take another 3mm off each side which is not easy.
With all that tea they'll be running to the loo frequently

Remember to tell them to raise the toilet seat up before ......
We have had workmen in recently and offered drinks whenever we were making one for ourselves. This was mid morning, lunch time and mid afternoon.
I think Barmaid had it spot on!
A lot of the answers I’d have given Don’t forget to offer squash and water as well.
Two in the morn two in the afternoon.
if you're serving it in dainty bone china cups, about every ten minutes
