I am being made redundant the end of September I will qualify for redundancy pay. I will not have my official notice next week. What I would like to know if I found another job before my notice would I lose my redundancy pay, also would I need to work a weeks notice?
You will qualify for redundancy if you have been working for Company for 2 years or more. How much will depend on whether you are just getting the statutory minimum or better terms are written in your contract.
You can get another job lined up, but don't start until you have received your pay, and worked what they require you to under your present terms, or the terms of your redundancy. Other than that it will be an excuse not to pay you anything.
If you leave your present company before your redundancy date you will not have been made redundant, so you will not be entitled to redundancy pay. Find a new job but arrange to start after your redundancy date OR, if you have any leave owing, you could take the last days in your present company as leave and also work for the new firm.
