Coronation Street fans will be thinking Peter Barlow right now. . . !

Decree Nisi through. Decree Absolute ages off as the male has ignored multiple solicitor chasers to collect and swap financial information.

The married male plans a Summer 2020 wedding. The male is deceptive, sticks their head in the sand a lot, and not the brightest. They may genuinely believe a Decree Nisi equals divorce.

The original bride and new bride are two different people.

If they marry in the UK I believe this will be flagged and stopped when they give notice?

What happens if the wedding is in the bride’s home country, located within Europe, but not the UK?

I posted the title incorrectly on the following post, which I have now reported to have it removed:

Peter Pedant, from what I can make out from your message you posted on the original thread that I had deleted within two minutes about voidable marriages?

The marriage that is still in place is not voidable and is currently going through the divorce process in the UK.

The second marriage I understand will be voided as though it never existed.

However, for legal justice to occur here in the UK the police need to be made aware of the second marriage. My question is if that is located somewhere within Europe and not reported officially in the UK, how do the police become aware of it?

Also Peter Pedant, we all make mistakes (although for some of us that's a typo and not a second marriage), so ease up on me for the typo, please!
oh, the page I was looking at is still on the computer and it seems a shame having found it
not to share it

Thank you, Peter Pedant. I am aware the second marriage will be voided.

My question is, how does the awareness of the second marriage come about? Is there an EU marriage register that will flag the man being married twice?

The couple will return to the UK after the marriage, and I presume that registering the marriage in the UK would flag the two marriages.

What about if they do not register the marriage in the UK for some time, or at all? How are the police made aware? Witnesses only?

Brilliant, Barmaid. Thank you for your answer!

That's not what I wanted to hear as the engagement has been kept a secret, and I believe the second marriage is intended to be hush-hush.

As you've probably guessed I am the first bride and I'm concerned the new bride does not know that I exist. Now I fear he may get away with this crime too, eek!
oops sorry I thought this was the coronation st plot

as bride no 1 - you are protected.
oh you want to screw them up
when he opens a bank account - write to the new manager and say that he is a bigamist and has made false statements when he opened it....
that will screw him up big time for a few years

I giggled reading that suggestion, Peter! I wouldn’t know of any bank accounts as I left the marital home. The house will all come out in the wash before the Decree Absolute though, I guess that’s why he’s delaying the financial settlement! Perhaps not the best plan with a new fiancée waiting though, eh? . . . wait, just marry her too! (Head in hands while laughing)
