Illegal Immigrants

I live next door to a house that has illegal immigrants working on building
an extension, they are chinese who don't speak a word of english.
Who do I report this to ?.

Would have thought you'd report suspicions to the council. Although maybe the local cop shop could be an alternative.

In any case report to local council, police, trading standards and customs/border control.

there's lots of people in the UK - including some born here - who don't speak a word of English. Doesn't mean they are illegals.

An avenue to start with may be your council's building control. Depending on the nature of the extension it may need building regs approval. But if it's the people you are concerned about then the police would be the place to enquire where to contact the immigration people.

Have you tried talking to them in English? Maybe they just talk to each other in their mother tongue, just like we would if meeting a fellow Brit abroad.

Sorry, the fact you assume that this makes them illegals speaks way more about you than it does about them. Unless you have a more solid basis for this belief I suggest you mind your own business.

I disagree, Mozz. If the OP suspects they're here illegally he should make it his business to get it checked out. If all is well the men have nothing to worry about.

Apart from potential delays to the rebuild, which maybe has a deadline for completion, which could potentially lose those men a substantial bonus.

If the OP has more substance for their suspicions, then absolutely, they should report it, but "not talking English" isn't enough in my eyes.
