If your employment base is in London and pre-covid you used to travel into the office every day, will you lose your London Weighting if you now work from home ?
Read the contract of employment and see what that says- see whether it is defined as conditional. if not they would have to give you notice to change your terms
Since the excuse for it's existence is that its there to counter higher London prices, and these will still be the same, morally they won't have an excuse to remove it. I'd have thought it was tied into your salary anyway, rather than a separate payment.
Yes, for some companies with job grading related payscales that have offices around the country including London, but it's becoming more common just to have an overall salary figure
I always thought London Weighting was because of the general higher cost of living, particularly accommodation and subsistence rather than specifically travel.
In my experience the London weighting (inner or outer) reflected where the office was and took no account of where the employee lived- some lived within easy commuting distance, some travelled in from 100 miles away
Yes I think it will entirely depend on what your T and C say about the basis for being given London Weighting in the first place. Its simply a commonly used phrase for describing a difference in salary dependent on where the business is based.
