ag, if you are chosen to go on a jury you are not allowed to talk about the case ( whilst it's on going ) to anyone including family.
sat around for eight days and had a case on the last two. As I recall it was about a dog trainer who thumped one of her clients. It was interesting, we spent a couple of hours discussing all the details, not just of the evidence but of the way the parties acted in court. We found her guilty with no objections. It wasn't a particularly serious case and I don't think the sentence was much. Nobody seemed to be under any pressure, just citizens carrying out a duty and trying to be fair.

My only beef was that the court was miles away and a quite stiff walk from the station, and I had gout. My OH got called to a much closer court.

You could claim expenses but not much.
I got 'elected' by the other eleven to be foreman - because I wore a jacket and tie!! (I had my own business back then and made meetings for after court time).
Met a lovely young lady, got talking, gave her a lift home on the last day and asked her out; she said she'd love to but she was getting married in two weeks time so had better not. Ah well.

The case was something and nothing really only took about three hours all in and was then excused.

Tony,I dunno how a case wud be affected if any juror was not taking their role seriously enuf!
Just keep your head down and vote with your conscience, ag.
Question Author
I wud try and claim exemption Tony lol
You could get a doctors note, ag.
You just need to get a letter from your doctor to say "you are unwell". That will suffice.
Conscience doesn't come into it. There is only one deciding factor: have the prosecution proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.
sorry Tony you and I had crossed post.
No problem, jj. Hope you had a great birthday.
