sat around for eight days and had a case on the last two. As I recall it was about a dog trainer who thumped one of her clients. It was interesting, we spent a couple of hours discussing all the details, not just of the evidence but of the way the parties acted in court. We found her guilty with no objections. It wasn't a particularly serious case and I don't think the sentence was much. Nobody seemed to be under any pressure, just citizens carrying out a duty and trying to be fair.
My only beef was that the court was miles away and a quite stiff walk from the station, and I had gout. My OH got called to a much closer court.
You could claim expenses but not much.
