The probation officer wouldn't have set restrictions in place if they hadn't the authority to do so.
Perhaps they're thinking of your own best interests and trying to keep you away from temptation.

It is a condition of your licence that you comply with any instructions or restrictions the probation service imposes on you. The guidance for the National Offenders' Management Scheme can be found here:

In particular, 2.23 will apply to your query:

"In some instances it will be necessary to apply for an exclusion zone to prevent an offender from entering or visiting a specific area whilst under supervision. This could include restrictions around schools, addresses of previous victims or locations where the individual is at risk of drug and/or alcohol misuse. Exclusion zones are normally used to prevent further offending associated with a particular area, for example gang related offences or to address an identified threat to a victim or other person identified as being at risk."

One of the functions of supervising those released on licence is to minimise the risk of reoffending and your probation officer obviously believes this is necessary in your case.
