Have had a reminder through... £85.25 for 6 months. And couldnt get through to the gov site, so rang the automated service. Car registration, model etc all checked and correct. On there, it is only £55.25.
I have double-checked all the details several times... but why is it £30 cheaper by phone?
A letter, dave. I googled the site it gave on the letter. Both fully, and using the "suggestions" that came up, and my phone kept going back to homepage.
It's been a year, bobbin, but you can do 6 or 12 months. We just decided 6 this time, so they weren't both due straight after Christmas. Looks the same as a normal reminder.
Are you sure this reminder is genuinely from the DVLA, Pixie? There are lots of agents who will apply for the renewal for you (and do many other things such as apply for your driving licence) and charge you a (usually exorbitant) fee. There are only two rates for your car for six months: £85.25 or £81.38 if done by direct debit:
there is nothing on any table anywhere that is £55.25 I think the 5 should be an 8 and that is correct, you may have mis heard the voice on the phone. If you do it here you will get £85.25
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax. I do 12 months DD best way and a lot cheaper per month than doing 6 months.
We usually, do, ttt... just different cars and we decided to change it yearly to June.
I have an email now confirming car is taxed, and confirms £55.25.
