Whilst watching police programme last night about counterfeit goods it really was annoying just how many times the bit of programme you have just seen is repeated. I fortunately do have a semblance of memory left , take out the repeated bits and the adverts and I reckon a 60 minute programme would run for less than half that time

Yes, Channel 5 "docs" are very skillful at making 30 minutes of actual watchable stuff into an hour-long show.
You should try watching American versions of these programmes.

They repeat explanations throughout the episode and they speak of all the cops/FBI etc as superheroes.

Yet I still watch them!

Yes Wolf, we watch a border force re drug smuggling across the Mexican border, just the same .
It’s a cheap and shoddy way of saving money and extending the programs.
There used to be an American series featuring police car chases and that would often show the same footage three times.
Lots of TV shows do this as well as previews of what is coming up in a few minutes
Partly it is about bringing channel surfers up to date, or trying to keep them on the channel
