R in the bays . Today someone from the council turned up and said I needed to pay for skip licence & dispensation . The skip company ( who have to apply for the licence and I pay them ) say they don't apply for a licence in parking bays with any other councils only this one have ever asked for one and said they will move the skip tonight . I have already paid for the dispensation today . Wouldn't normal bother but this council is as they sat ultra demanding and had so much money from us recently for things we have later found out were questionable to say the least . Anyone know wether a licence & dispensation needed?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It depends who owns the parking bay. Dispensation is usually if there's a yellow line. Anyway, skip hire companies do all this automatically.......... permit/dispensation etc. It shouldn't involve you.
At first sight, it sounds as though the bay is part of the highway, so permit etc would be needed. Maybe the skip company has mistaken it for a private bay.
The skip company ( who are established at least 40 years in business in this area) didnt apply for a permit as they said that we didn't require one for the skip to be in the bay and they looked on Google earth before dropping & there is certainly no yellow lines there so that's an interesting comment regarding the yellow line requiring dispensation.. I've now already paid for the dispensation & can't imagine that a refund from the council is about as easy a fighting a parking ticket . Zero chance !

Also check your council's website. My council will only issue permuts to licensed skip hire companies and a permit is required regardless of on street parking bays, yellow lines or restrictions. This is partly to ensure that access to fire hydrants is not affected
