Parking Fine At Airport Mcdonalds

Collecting people from the airport, we parked late at night at the nearby McDonald's.  It being very dark, husband got out of the car to read parking sign - 60 minutes free if using the facilities - then went into McDonalds to get coffee.  Fifteen minutes later we departed.  Today he has received a £100 parking fine.

Can someone please make sense of this - in particular the reference to getting out of the car and walking:

No.

Could you post a scan of the actual parking fine you were sent?

There's no point, brainiac.  There's nothing specific on it - just two pictures of our registration plate and entry and exit times.  No indication of where the car was parked.

The reason given is 'being longer than the period of parking that had been paid for or without authorisation, in an apparent breach of the terms and conditions that are displayed on signs in prominent places around the site and that those motorists entering the site agree to be bound by.  As a result this parking charge notice, whihc is now immediately payable, has been issued.'

This is a image of the car parks, does that help to identify where he was parked?

Could your husband have walked from the McD section to the Starbucks then back, i.e. how do they know which area you are in?

Naomi, I can't help because parking matters are not my forte. But I suggest you post your problem here:

https://www.ftla.uk/

Post it on the "Private parking tickets" board. (My contributions to that forum are usually under "Speeding and other criminal 0ffences").

There are experts there, some are either practising or retired lawyers and one or two really know their parking stuff. Be prepared to be asked questions or to post up documents. It may seem a bind but they will give you proper advice if you provide them with accurate information.

If the notice doesn't say where the car was parked, how can they show the charge is justified?

I would contact them for proof of where the car was parked.

Thanks Corby and NJ.  I'll show him both.  As I said, it's not the money - it's just flipping annoying that they can screw money out of people like this.

Thanks for your help everyone.

99% of parking companies give the remaining 1% a bad name ...

GULLIVER, if that had happened to me, I'd be asking about it too.

I have no idea if you drive or no but would you pay a parking charge without questioning if you thought it might not be justified?

12,39 TCL no problem , I didn't expect you or anyone else on AB to agree with me . After all this is Answer Bank.

TCL If this had happened to Me,  Hymie or Nicebloke. You lot in the AB Crony Club would not have been offering advice , but would have been dancing from the ceiling with joy,, No doubt you will remove this answer also before to many people get the chance to read it.

Have you tried asking a question or making a comment that isn't pro-Labour or anti-Tory, -Trump?

Get over yourself

I have had disagreements with folk and gone out my way to help them the same day or the day after.

Anyway, best to stop making this personal so if you've nothing constructive to say, I suggest you move on.

13,17 Margo Tester ...🤣Likewise.🤣

Strange how even the most straightforward of questions, asking for advice, with no political slant whatsoever can sudddenly descend into this nonsense.

did you enter the reg? Most of these you have to enter the reg. Even then sometimes you get a "fine".

NJ 13.50. I asked a straightforward question at the very begining of this thread, theres no way the first post could have been missed. Ignored maybe?

TCL. See above. I for one was trying to be constructive??
