Laugh? I Nearly Paid My Licence Fee

A work collegue is leaving and I bought him a card but did something stupid and spelt a letter of his name wrong - in my defense there are 2 ways of spelling the particular name.
Anyway I was going to throw out and buy a new one but he is the type to call people out on wasting paper etc. So after the 'thanks for being a suportive collegue' message I have put 'sorry about mispelling your name- I was going to discard the card and buy you a new card but I know how passionate you are about wasting paper
At first I thought he might find it funny as he has a sense of humour, but then part of me thinks it sounds sarcastic.
What do you think.. should I sens it him or get a new card.

Sometimes I get cards with the wrong spelling crossed through and an ooops, beside it or above it. I like that they own the error but I am not going to make an issue of it. It's the thought in sending the card that matters.
Names are important but only you know the person. Personally I would give the card with a "sorry just realised I spelt your name wrong....."
