It's Already Started!

We received our first Christmas card yesterday, 30th Nov. It came less than 10 miles by post and I'm sure a snail could have got it to us Christmas day.

Being sensible, when do you think is the approriate date to post cards?

Within the next 2 weeks for UK. I still send and receive cards in the post - it is a chore to write them though so not surprised people want to get it crossed off their list.

Got one a few days ago because the sender is off on his hols to S Africa for a few weeks.  I love getting Christmas cards and it'll be a sorry day for me when people stop sending them.

We do bednobs, its nice to wish old friends a merry Christmas and having cards up in the house is more Christmassy than other communications, but receiving one in November seemed a bit ridiculous.

I got my first Christmas card last Monday.  However that was only because my friends from Italy were visiting the UK and it made sense for them to give it to me at the same time as the two calendars that they traditionally give me at this time of the year.

I need to get my Christmas cards designed within the next few days, mainly so that there's a chance of the one to Italy getting there before the 25th.  (The Italian postal system is notoriously slow!).

My cards to addresses within the UK will probably get posted in about a week's time.  (That's largly just so I can get the task out of the way, instead of having to rush everything just before Christmas)

A couple of good reasons for an early one there but I'm sure it doesn't apply to the one we receied. We have a couple ready to post to Canada next week but UK ones will wait awhile yet

Yet another consequence of lockdown.  People were so fed up and depressed that they needed a bit of sparkle and now it's the norm to put the decs up at the beginning of December and think about Christmas.

I'll do mine soon but never before December. I still send them but reduce the list bit by bit each year.

We usually post ours on December 1st. Since there is no collection today (and it was pouring with rain) they will go in the post tomorrow.

We have already received two cards.

International Standard is £2.80 ladybird but there are umpteen different options!

We're posting ours tomorrow, so that they will arrive in December. We didn't post them earlier, because we feel that getting a Christmas card in November doesn't seem - well - right, somehow.
