Charity Walk Sponsorship

I'm thinking of doing a sponsored walk for a large charity in the summer and am wondering how the sponsorship money is collected.

After you've signed up for the walk and paid the registration fee do you then get a sort of Go-fund me page which you then refer those who want to sponsor you to?  Do they pay immediately or after the walk?   No info on their website; have emailed the organisers but not heard back yet.

Anyone been sponsored for one of these walks?

Most walk organisers leave it up to individuals to determine how they'll collect the money in.

If, say, you'll be collecting from lots of work colleagues (all of whom you interact with on an almost daily basis), you can simply go round them and ask them for the money in cash (or by cheque / bank transfer to your own account).  You can then send the total to the charity.

However if you'll be collecting money in from work colleagues dotted around the country (plus aunty Pru in Leith, cousin Joe in Bristol and sister Gloria in Exeter) it might make far more sense to use an online fundraising page.

Further, people will theoretically only be paying up after you've completed the challenge but some might choose to give you the money at the same time as they agree to sponsor you.  (You can't demand it though!)

This, from the website of the Alzheimer's Society, provides a bit more guidance:

Thanks for that Chris - it's actually Alzheimer's Society the walk is for!
