Unemployment benefit
2 Answers
In Scotland - my daughter is intending to join the police. She was given the joining date of 7th of Feby. She was obliged to give a months notice to her former employer - finishing work on the 20th January. Now the police joining up date has provisionally been put back to 14th March. Is there any benefit she would be entitled to in the seven weeks she is unemployed - through no fault of her own.
Thank you in anticipation of any advice

Assuming she was given a start date in writing from the Police, she should really be taking this up with them because it is they that have caused the problem. Technically they are in breach of the contract offer letter. It might be possible to gently point out to the HR department what a problem they have created - wouldn't want the Local MP to get involved, eh.
