bitten tongue :o(

I bit rather heavily through my tongue on sunday - my god it hurt! - and it's still hurting and has a little bit of proud flesh on the side which keeps getting caught on my teeth, everyone keeps telling me that this will go down within the week. But i'm worried that this tab will stay and i'll have to have it removed or something. I know the mouth heals well, and this probably sounds like paranoia. Anyone heard of scar tissue remaining on the tongue?

I think it should be fine and will heal well. I had a bit of over-granulating tissue on the underside of my tongue stud for a while but it disappeared. Dont worry about it.

The tongue heals very fast, and I have done that loads of times and been amazed how quickly it heals. The only trouble is it can happen again while it is healing so be careful for a few days.

It happened to me a number of times, in particular once when I was 18 I bit my tongue very badly, like you describe (makes me queasy to think about it even now) but it healed perfectly.
