Who polices the ombudsman?
8 Answers
Sorry it's not news but there isn't a 'legal' section - Who polices the ombudsman i.e. I know you can make a complaint to the ombusdman if you have a greivance with a financial institution, but who do you complain to if you have a greivance with the Ombudsman?

The only way you can put a complaint to the Ombudsman is through your MP and - since the Ombudsman is answerable to Parliament (or, more specifically, the Government) - I would suggest the same route is the only one possible if you wish to complain about him/her.
Thanks all - i guess Parliament is the next step. BTW Quizmonster, you don't need to complain to the ombudsman via your MP (if that's what you're implying?) - you may contact the OB if you've made a complaint to the offending company, and then feel they have not dealt with the complaint adequately
ps. got the address of Osama, xyzzyplugh?

My apologies, Darth. My answer referred to the Parliamentary Ombudsman, the only one of the breed I have ever had dealings with myself and I totally overlooked your specifically 'financial' situation! If you click http://www.ombudsman.org.uk/pca/complain.html
a link will take you to the website that applied to me. Once there, please read the opening paragraph under the heading 'Referring to a MP', particularly the second sentence. Again, my apologies for ignoring the central point of your situation. (Oh...and I hope you have better luck than I did!)
