I bought my car new 2 years ago and I've just put it into the dealer as there is some paint bubbling on the roof. Obviously this would be covered on the warranty. However, they phoned me today and said that they wouldn't do the work under warranty as I have already had work done to my roof. They are claiming that I have had paintwork done and that has caused the bubbling. I have had no work done on the roof at all, except when the same garage replaced the seals when it was leaking a year ago.
Can anyone tell me where I stand and what my rights are?
ok ( my hubby sells new cars so he helping me here ) if the same garage had done the repair under warranty then they should have it on file. therefore it will show what work was done, where and when. i would say fight on here as they obviously didnt do the job right. i always thought paintwork had its own guarantee anyway. i wouldnt pay for it to be fixed. threaten them with going to a solicitor !! bet they back down then.
They did do the work on the seals but that didnt involve any paintwork. They are claiming that was done elsewhere. Im annoyed that whatever is apparently wrong, was not noticed when they did the seal work.
