What are my consumer rights

I purchased 2 Guinea pigs 8 days ago from a well known pet shop. However one of them died overnight. Do I have any recourse to a replacement from the shop?. Would the guinea pig be covered under normal Sale of Goods legislation (ie last a reasonable amount of time etc.)

Did the shop happen to be PAH?

There was a TV programme about them a while ago and it was quite disgusting.

We got our GP's from a small pet shop and we have had them for over 2 years.

It is worth trying to contact a breeder.

As to the question, I would certainly go back to the shop and explain the situation and ask what they intend to do about it. I would also contact CAB.

Yes I would say that the goods are not fit for the purpose i.e. you expect a guinea pig actually to be breathing - as far as I can see it is no different than if you bought say a stereo and the following day it would not work. At least they should offer you a replacement.

Sorry to hear that.
I was in said pet shop once and saw someone bring several fish back to them which had died. They replaced them for him.
