New Child Booster Seat Regulations
3 Answers
I am aware of these new regulations and totally agree with them. However I know of instances where parents are meerly boosting the height of the child by placing a cushion under them. I have quieried this with them but was told it is legal to do so. I know from a common sense view this is wrong but wondered if anyone knows where i could obtain a definative legal opinion to show these parents that what they are doing is still illegal

It is definately illegal to do so - it is not a BS standard booster seat. A cushion can and will collapse under pressure and be useless in an emergency. Search for "new Seat Belt Rules" and have a look through the threads. The grey/blue search box is at the left hand bottom of the topics list marked "Search this site"
These parents are idiots who put their own convenience before the safety of their children.

Your local firestation or car seat stockist may well have the details in a basic format.
I cant believe that parents could do such a thing!
My bf is with fire service and they spent a day checking car seats a few weekends ago. I was shocked at some of the tales he came back with, including a woman who had just put the seatbelt around the babys seat because she didnt have any instructions (it was 2nd hand and she didnt even know its history)

They may have read the words 'booster cushion' and naively decided that a normal cushion will do the job.
I hope they change after reading the correct info and do so quickly.
