Changed locks
A friend of mine left his wife. She now lives at the house on her own, Both names on mortgage. She has now gone and changed the locks to the house, If he gets into the house by breaking the locks, will he be breaking the law, as its his own house.

It may be good to talk to the local police to go with him in case she has an issue about him coming in like that. At least they will be warned if they get a 999 from his wife.
You say both names are on the mortgage but are both names on the deeds?
I'd go with the above suggestion for him to have a chat with the police and maybe take legal advice, some firms do a free legal surgery.
