Planning to drive across the US on a foodie roadtrip any tips or guides welcome.

Me and my brother are palnning to travel across the USA in a hire car and its going to be a more foodie minded holiday just checkin out all regional specials and having a hot dog or 10, as this will be our first venture over to US then is there any guides or places anyone can recommend to help us be as safe as possible, also anyone else done this and got any help for us would be great....oh and how is the best way to plan it with regards to accomodation we dont mind cheap motels or should we ask a travel agent to help us plan this holiday??

Personally, I wouldn't bother getting a travel agent involved. You'll be able to find out about and book nearly everything via the web, be able to tailor the holiday to exactly what you want and not have to pay a middle man for doing it for you.

I'd recommend spending some time in Mississippi/Tennessee for the BBQ and in Louisina for the Cajun/Creole specialities. Think Gumbo, Crawfish, Po'Boys, Muffalettas, Crawfish, Boudin, Catfish etc etc, then add in wet and dry BBQ and you'll be in foodie heaven

I wouldn't know the best way to go about organising this sort of holiday, but if you find yourself near Louisville, Kentucky I'd definitly check this place out!

Just choose roadside motels as you go, it's easy with no prior planning involved (unless you reach somewhere during a huge festival or something!).

You will need an address to give American Immigration when you land, so as long as you've got your first night booked in a hotel then you should be okay.
