Compensation and Damages - the difference.

I sort of studied this when I did a supervisors course many years ago, and we had to learn some legal stuff as part of it. That was a long time ago tho, and I know there is a difference - what is it?

Compensation (or compensatory damages) is but one of a number of damages which may result from a court case.
