In order to solve and arguement, am I correct in thinking that a company (in the UK) cannot make permanent staff redundant and still employ temporary staff. I understand that all temporary staff must be dismissed before permant staff.

Hi Electrochem,

It is not the person who is made redundant, it is the job that is made redundant.

Therefore if a temp. is working in another department doing a different job it wont effect them.

Sometimes a firm will transfer an employee to another department rather than make them redundant, but more often than not, it is a way of getting rid of rotten wood.

It was posted on Law and the sub heading of contracts to make sure it was picked up Cennet.

As is the norm, some answers were related to the question and some, like yours were not.
But I did answer your first question hence my question to your second post - and do you have to be so rude? I was only asking a polite question
