What time can workmen start work on a weekend?

Is there a law for the time they can start as I was woken to this morning to a workman banging a cement mixer at 8.30am. Thanks for your help.

I think they can start work at 7.30am Monday~Saturday. They can work earlier than that if they are doing quiet work.

Not sure about Sundays...

I personally think 8.30 is spot on for a saturday and 10am for a sunday

A few weeks ago I was woken up at 1.30am (yes am!) by someone using a circular saw to open up the pavement outside my house. On investigation, it turned out to be the electricity board who were trying to restore power after an unscheduled break.

If they are building a house or something then usually when planning permission is given it will stipulate the hours on the planning consent, you can look this up on the local council website for whatever address it is. There are rules and regulations, and if it is a regular nuisance then the local authority would be the one to contact to find out exactly when they should or should not be working. Someone is building a house near me and I have a copy of the planning consent and it says not after 1 on a Saturday and not on a Sunday.
