Unmarried partnership right

I am a 34year old female who has three children with my partner. We have lived together for 18 years. He wont put my name on the deeds of the house. If we split am I entitled to half of the property and contents.

There is no certainty about this. Look at the thread headed "Partner's debts" by Full-throttl for some info. If you have contributed to the house - helping pay the mortgage etc. then you should have some entitlement, but I doubt whether it would be a half.

I have heard common law wives dont have any rights - but as childrten are involved I would like to know myself.
Why won't he put your name on the deeds ?

Go to see CAB. There is a possibility that your looking after the children to give him the possibility to earn money to pay off the mortgage will give you some interest but you will need a specialist lawyer to give you specific advice.

woodchopper - quite simply there is no such thing as common law wife or rights in the UK . It is an urban myth.

The man has a duty to support his children, though.

It's a very complicated area of law.

Sorry Ethel - I should have phrased my first a little bit better - meant to say I have heard what is known as a common law wife.
A friend of ours was in the same situation and she came home from work one day to find him dead.
