No brainer really - of course it is!
Why on earth should it be illegal to act as an agent in obtaining credit for someone? I arrange a loan for you - as long as the loan company knows what capacity I am acting in, where's the problem? As long as I'm properly registered, where necessary, as a financial advisor.

Obtaining a loan for yourself in someone else's name is a different matter - but that's not what you asked, even if it was what you intended to ask.
of course you can take a loan out for someone else,but you will be held responsible for the payments not the third party,i took a loan out for my son and he paid me the monthly payments.
