Legal Action ??

Has there ever been legal action taken against anybody as a result of something that has been said on AB? If I said for instance that XXXXXX was gay when I know he actually isn't, could I be prosecuted??

Do they allow pleading the 5th amendment here in the UK like in the US? Hmmmm, maybe not! Crete x, I never thought to check ... but might be a good idea to do so from now on (LOL). not prosecuted (ie by the crown) but sued by the person you've libelled. (He'd have to show that being called gay is defamatory, which I think is still just possible, though I could be wrong). The fact that it's on a website makes no difference - it just means the libel is visible to a far greater number of people than if you just included it in a letter to someone, and therefore damages awarded might be greater. AB's owners could be sued too.
