i own my house with my mother and we are selling it. We have a buyer now, but my ex has put a caution on my house. Will it stop the sale going ahead? He says he has done �15,000 work in my house, but he has'nt.

Yes it will stop the sale going ahead, that's the whole point of a caution. You should speak to a solicitor.
