Are there any rules about membership fees that a trade union can charge? The question is Can they charge same membership fees for part time and full time workers. I know of one union the PCS that charges reduced membership fees for part time employees. My current union is not willing to budge on reduced charges. Are there any rules about this anywhere.

I used to work for a trade union and they did indeed charge less for part time ( 16 hours and under if my memory serves me right). I do think that the benefits that went with this rate were less than that of full rate. Maybe your union gives the same benfits across the board regardless of hours worked.
