My daughter bought a dress today, in a sale, but is unghappy with the fit (she didn't try it on in the shop). She asked, before buying it, if she could get a refund if it didn't fit and was told that the shop did not do refunds on sale goods.
Can a shop refuse to give a refund on sale goods ?
A shop is legally obliged to refund if goods are faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality. This applies to sale items, unless the fault has been clearly identified to the buyer at the time of the purchase.
That is all.
Many shops offer refunds just because the buyer has changed his mind, or the clothing doesn't fit, but the company doesn't have to. Whether there is a sale or not.
Thank you Ethel. I guess I'll just have to take the dress back and hope they will either refund of give me a credit note then. And tell that lass of mine to be more careful about what she buys in the future !
