If you're discussing evolution the egg came first, it was laid by the dinosaur that had the mutation that laid the egg which became the chicken.

If it's philosophical or talking in terms of theology, I haven't a clue

If you are religious, God created animals (in Genesis I believe) - no where in the Bible to my (admitedly dusty) knowledge does it say God created egg. So the chicken came first.

Anyway, I never saw a "chicken and spoon" race.
So the spoon comes before the egg, with the chicken nowhere (or possibly Norfolk, which is the same thing).
