i brought a shelf in argos got it home didnt like it took it back and the manager refused to refund it or offer an exchange. are they entitled to do this if not then what piece of law can i quote at them to take it back, thanks

They do not have to refund if the only problem is that you have changed your mind. You are entitled to a refund if the item is faulty or not suitable for the purpose. Argos normally allow a refund within about a fortnight, although they have no legal obligation to do so. It might be worth asking them why the returns policy did not apply in that case.

But they won't take it back if the packaging is in any way damaged - as they can't resell it.
Maybe that's what the issue is.

I think thats what he said the problem was as the packaing was damaged. damn im stuck with a shelf now lol
Most things we sell are covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Just return them to any store, unused, in their original undamaged packaging, in a saleable condition, along with the receipt* and we'll give you a refund
It's a 16 day money back guarntee and we don't have to take it if the packing is wrecked. I would have though, but I'd have only refunded it onto a gift card
I stand corrected, it is 30 days. When'd they chage that then?! lol
