change of house ownership
1 Answers
I am married with two children aged 16 and 14 and bought my house jointly with my wife in 1985. I have been variously ill over the years and in essence my wife has paid the mortgage. Can I change the title deeds of our house so that my wife becomes the owner of the house ? Is there any tax implication and do I need a solicitor to do this for me please?
Thanks for your help.

So if your mortgage is now paid off, you can change the deeds to show her as being the sole owner. If you still have a mortgage which is in joint names you would not be able to do it. And yes the best way is to get a solicitor to do it, it should not cost a lot. There should not be any tax implications as transfers between spouses do not incur charges to tax.
