to give bailiffs extra powers to break into the
homes of people in debt, ( i.e credit cards )

They would be better employed bringing out measures to prevent some of the debt in the first place.

Make a person match a certain criteria before being allowed to possess a credit card.

Re-introduce measures that makes it compulsory for one to put down 50% of the costs in cash first if one wants to purchase certain goods.

Ban all those TV adverts encouraging people to take out loans.

They are forever telling us that smoking is bad for us, drinking is bad for us, and eating certain foods is bad for us. Well debt is bad for you, it can cause suicides, marriage break-ups, and criminal activities.

I have two thoughts
The first is ~ typical government attitude. Bully boy tactics now legalised. There will be tears before bedtime if this goes through, as I can see people getting very angry at having their homes invaded legally. Once upon a time the only people that could enter your house without permission were the customs and excise ~ even the police need a warrant.
My second thought is ~ it may stop those that use credit as a way of funding a lifestyle they are never going to be able to sustian. It might make people aware that these debts need paying, and make them think twice before grabbing what they want before thinking about how they will pay for it.
