My boyfriend was contacted by his insurance company last week and told that somone had made a claim against his car for some damage done to their car. My boyfriend has no recollection whatsoever of any accident and does not know what to do. His insurance company are sending a solicitor round to take a statement from my boyfriend. Does this mean it will be taken to court?
Sounds a bit like a scam to me. How did the owner of the damaged car know which insurance company to contact if your boyfriend didn't give them details?
But it doesn't mean it will be taken to court. If it is the insurance company will handle everything anyway.
well the dvla knows what insurance you have so he probably went to the police or his own insurance company told them the reg and it was taken from there
Happened to me once. However, I could prove it wasn't me - I was on holiday abroad at the time. I just told my insurance company it wasn't me and asked the other insurance company to prove it, by asking the make, model, colour, registration of my car and where the accident had supposedly happened. If there are no witnesses, its your word against theirs. Just keep denying it.
